The requirements for cost-effective production and testing systems are now increasingly characterised by ever shorter technology and product life cycles and their ability to be integrated into global manufacturing strategies.
Modularity creates flexibility
With the development of flexTAC®, SOMA has created a test automation concept enabling the consistent use of standardised testing and process modules from sample manufacturing to serial production. This standardisation is already achieved at module level and ensures flexible use in different flexTAC®-based testing and assembly systems.
The scalability of a system based on flexTAC® enables specific adaptation of the production capacity to the production cycle. Starting with manual work stations during product start-up, a fully automatic test system can subsequently be realised using existing modules. You therefore retain ultimate flexibility.
Investments to develop complex test systems do not need to be made in one fell swoop. You can use the flexTAC® system to gradually extend capacity as production demand grows. This reduces the investment risk and production remains flexible and scalable.
The use of multiple flexTAC® process modules in an automated test system means that individual modules can be removed from current production to optimise process sequences. Processes can therefore be optimised in parallel to production, without bringing manufacturing to a standstill.
You can even work with flexTAC® modules designed for mass production during the prototype phase. Tried and tested process modules can be integrated and extended into automated systems as production volumes increase.
Standardisation at process module level means that automation systems based on flexTAC® can be used for new products after product phase-out. A retired flexTAC® process module can either be deployed for spare part production in manual work stations or be converted for new products.
